Safe Environment Continuing Training Updates
The 2023 Safe Environment Continuing Training is ongoing and available online. If you have already completed the Initial Training, log into www.virtusonline.org. Your new training task is found under "Online Training Courses." Please get in touch with the VIRTUS Online Help Desk at 1-888-847-8870 for assistance if you do not remember your log-in information. In addition, please email/call the Church Office after completing online Continuing Training so we can print your certificate. These tasks must be completed promptly and updated annually. Devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus has as its purpose a more ardent and perfect love for the Lord and to reparate for all the offenses, especially the ingratitude and forgetfulness of His presence to us in the Holy Eucharist.
Please, join us in practicing this love of the Lord:- Thursdays for a Holy Hour of Reparation from 7:00 –8:00 pm.
- Fridays for Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Vocation Prayer CrossThe Lord has commanded us to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life, "laborers for the harvest." To respond to that command, we have purchased a Vocations Prayer Cross from the Diocesan Vocation Office. We are asking families to sign-up to take home the Vocations Prayer Cross for one week to pray together as a family for vocations each night. All families of whatever size and age can participate.
We hope that this commitment to prayer will bless our families with an increase in holiness and growth in vocations.

We recommend that all requests be made to the Diocese of Lafayette who have our digital records and the staff to respond in a timely fashion.

In the rare case that we do the research, our fee is $25/hour and $7.00 per certificate.Burial? Cremation? What does the Church Teach?Below is a summary of what the Church teaches on burial and cremation. While the Church has in recent decades allowed for cremation to be chosen for sanitary, economic, or other social reasons, she strongly continues to prefer the burial of the body of the deceased as the most fitting way to express and reinforce the belief in the dignity of the human body as a temple of the Holy Spirit and the bodily resurrection.
In cases where cremation is chosen, the remains should be treated with the same respect given the human body from which they come. This respect requires that the entire remains be laid to rest in a sacred place, buried in a grave, or entombed in a mausoleum or columbarium. The remains may not be divided, reserved in a private residence, or used to make jewelry or other keepsakes. The Church also strictly prohibits the scattering of ashes for any motive whatsoever.
May the Church's teaching on this topic assist us in caring and praying well for our deceased brothers and sisters and in proclaiming and passing on the Good News of the Gospel for the greater glory of God.
